Lots of music happening these days… after the GrassTracks (http://www.facebook.com/thegrasstracks) won the battle of the bands up at Uvic…we’ve gone on to be the ‘Band of the Month” on the ZONE Radio for January (http://www.thezone.fm/botm/the-grass-tracks/) …..lots of airplay and interviews and pictures and all…we got featured in Vic42 (http://vic42.com/the-grass-tracks) on line magazine. We are also the “house band at Felicita’s on campus for the next 3 months…every Fri night..cool..and we are opening for John and Roy down at the Strathcona on the 24th of this month. It’s a big University party to welcome all the students back ..supposed to be a packed affair…should be some very good exposure. We are going into the studio in Feb to record the other half of our CD.

Hey folks…great news…On the strength of 'NIGHTRISE" and the award winning single "Circle Me With Water", Greg has earned himself a nomination as Male Vocalist of the Year with the Vancouver Island Music Awards. These will be held in Courtenay, B.C from the 22nd to the 25th of June. Good Luck to all and we'll keep you posted!

I played at the Norway House tonight for the songwriter’s contest and I’m happy to say I was one of 3 chosen from tonight’s 9 finalists. There are 3 finalists from each of the North, Mid and South areas of the island, and the 9 of us will perform at the “Final Finals” on Fri July 23rd in the evening, on the main stage of the festival in front of a full crowd and a panel of judges consisting of Zak Cohen from www.woodshoprecording.com and Murray McLaughlin who is performing at this year’s fest.

Hey Folks…We’ve just received word that a song I entered in the Islands Folk Fest songwriting contest” Circle me with Water” … has been shortlisted to 1 of 9 finalists for the south island region. Check out their website www.folkfest.bc.ca for all the details and then if you might be inclined, come on down to the Norway House @ 1110 Hillside Ave on Sunday , June 13th …doors at 7:00 p.m. All 9 of us will be there to perform our particular songs to see who might qualify to go to the Final Finals……. This should be exciting and a good chance to hear some of our local singer/songwriters plying their craft, with all original material. Afterwards, as the feature act, Canadian folk icon, Bob Bossin will perform.
