gregAs I’ve made my way through this life thus far, there remains one constant….and that is the music. Whether I’m listening or playing or engulfed in the magic of watching a “maestro” ply his or her craft, it has always run deep and basically beyond my control. Apparently as a toddler I would ask my mother to put on the latest Elvis single (HOUND DAWG), so I could mimic him and dance and play along. Kind of pathetic, I know…but it was probably pretty cute all those years ago… Anyway, there was always music in our house and I can’t imagine it not being a part of the fabric that keeps a home together. I believe music speaks to a spiritual inner part of all of us in some way or another. So, while it was always a primal need of mine it also got relegated to a past time or hobby. Funny how life and raising a family can just move in and take over…best thing that ever happened to me!...Yeah, so I was never too motivated to take lessons, so it’s taken me all this time to figure out the bit I know. It’s slow, yes, but it’s been fun and at least I know for sure there’s so much more to learn and hear and experience!...Speaking of new experiences…I have to now speak for the lowly ukulele…ok….ok…..stop laughing and also stop conjuring up images and sound bytes of Tiny Tim….(that just ain’t healthy!)…. I’m talking about an auld instrument that’s making a monumental comeback, winning the hearts of music aficionados worldwide! Yes folks, I’m ranting!!…

Five of the 13 songs on my new c.d. “NIGHTRISE’ were penned on the tenor ukulele…with many more to come (watch for it) I’ll put up some links to the Uke… I encourage you all to explore. AND..if you have always wanted to learn how to play a stringed instrument, but figured” it’s too late”…or…”I could never do that”…then the wait is over .I couldn’t more highly recommend an instrument to begin your musical journey on. The uke is simple, yet can be very sophisticated….it’s very portable and quite inexpensive and is pretty much guaranteed to put a smile on anyone within ear shot… including yourself…Nuff said!...By the way, I still cherish and play all my other strung things regularly…I wouldn’t want them to feel left right out or anything…ciao!
